Let me start off by saying that this book is one of the best ones I've ever read. Mr. Holt does an outstanding job of being very candid about the matters affecting police-black community relations. He provides both historical relevance to the angst many within the black community have of police officers as well as those false narratives that blind us to the dangers police officers face minute to minute. The presentation of his perspectives are very objective and open-minded, but he also is very pointed on what is needed to correct much of the problems plaguing both distrust and apprehension. He provides a system that can ensure police encounters do not result in the demise of those involved, but that can be safely accomplished and result in all parties going home alive.Great work Mr. Holt. Thank you for being obedient to the voice and will of God, for being courageous to write such a great work, and for providing a system that can preserve the lives of all participants in those police contacts which are inevitable to avoid.

I started this book this morning and after just one chapter, it has me thinking about how I was raised and how I raised my daughter about our views of the police and their treatment of suspects! So far this book is really good and well worth the read! Thank you Tommy Holt Jr for taking the time to write such an eye opening book!

This is really a great read for all. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Whether you're in law enforcement, black, white, brown, rich, poor, or in between. This can really open a dialogue to begin to understand how both sides of the argument think and develop the stances and feelings, towards police and police towards citizens. Awesome read. Not only does it spark conversations but it also gives you a prospective from both the black & blue sides. Highly recommended!
Tommy has managed to use his life experience to help open eyes, hearts and minds on both sides of a problem which is at the forefront of an issue far too prominent in our country.
His examples and thought provoking questions should leave the reader reflecting on their own experiences and preconceived notions.
I've never written a review before, but I feel strongly the message of this book needs to be heard. Do everything you can not to let misperceptions end in tragedy. Educate our officers and our youth so we can all move forward in a positive direction.
With so much anger and people staying within their own 'camps' Tommy opens doors and tries to build bridges and deserves credit for taking a stand.
